Claessen Sees “First Light” on TFR’s Top 40
No one can dispute the fact that Bart Claessen has now seen “First
Light,” as he vaults to pole position #1 on TFR’s Trance/Dance
Stream for the week ending February 24, 2008. This ethereal uplifting male vocal trance cut has been storming the dance floors all over Europe with its
hypnotic driving beat. Most recently, “First Light” even hit the Dutch Top
25 National chart and garnered significant airplay across many stations in
his home country of the Netherlands for this 28-year old trance master.
Claessen is no strange to the trance scene as he
accomplished much success most recently as last year with the sizable hit “When
Morning Comes,” and mash-up “As Playmo Comes”. In 2005, his smash “Playmo” had
support from most top International DJ’s and was featured on countless dance
compilations. These songs are however, are not his only claims to fame.
In 2001, right after graduating high school and while
attending the Music Technology at the Utrecht School Of Arts, Claessen
performed under the name Barthezz, producing the smash “On the Move,” which any
trance lover would know, is a time tested CLASSIC. This song not only made the
Top 10 charts in more than ten countries throughout Europe, it even garnered
significant dance radio airplay in the U.S. as well. The song went on to sell almost
150,000 copies in Germany ALONE. The worldwide smash “Infected,” soon followed
to similar successes.
Claessen started from very humble beginnings listening to
electronic music during his teenage years in the 1990’s. He always loved music
and got his start at age seven with piano lessons, but soon moved on in high
school scrambling to save money to purchase equipment such as a sampler, synth,
an Atari computer and a small mixer which he used in his parent’s attic to form
a studio. Nothing like a homegrown success story!
Claessen continues to be very active after just finishing up
many DJ sets in the Ukraine and Poland. In March, he sets his sites on the UK with many gigs in various cities such as London and Glasgow, performing with legends
such as Above & Beyond and Ferry Corsten. Trance Fury Radio cannot wait to
see what Claessen will come up with next as we have definitely seen the
“Light!”
